I am trying to upgrade to the newest version of the free Ad-Aware, and I am having trouble removing the previous version. During the uninstall, I get this:
"Error 1702: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run."
I got advice to download the Windows Install Clean Up program. When I try to apply it to Ad-Aware, nothing happens. It's still in the list of programs. I just keep getting the run around.

I've had problems with my network card locking and windows getting real slow for startup (around 10 minutes with just the background loaded). All the times I've had this problem, Ad-Aware was installed. Now, before you go around blaming the other programs consider this:
After I rebooted my computer for about the fourth time because of the network problem. I reinstalled every program I had before execpt Ad-Aware. The reason I didn't install Ad-Aware was because I bought McAfee virus scan and firewall. It said it could block spyware so I didn't feel the need to install an Ad-Aware.
Three weeks later without any problems with the network (the second longest time was 3 days) I decided to install Ad-Aware to see if McAfee really did block spyware. Well, it did find some spyware (just some normal tracking cookies). So I turned on my browser just to find that the internet connection was screwy. .......

You should have uninstalled the previous version first....Have you tried removing it from Control Panel-->Add remove programs.
If yes, and the old version is not listed there, then there is no option and you have to delete it manually from program files and all programs listings.
